FITTING INSTRUCTION

Warnings / Cautions / Notes

WARNING
  • Make sure to wear suitable personal protective equipment when using cleaner or adhesion promoter.
CAUTION
  • If protective wax has been applied to the vehicle it must be thoroughly removed before starting this procedure.
  • The vehicle must be clean, dry and at workshop temperature. Vehicles moved into the workshop from cold or wet conditions should be dried and left to stand for a minimum of 2 hours.
Fitting Instruction

Fold out the rear scuff plate cardboard box to reveal the template.

Cut out the upper thinner cutout and remove the cardboard template (D) from the cardboard box.

Open tailgate and disconnect door strut.

  1. Release retaining clip by rotating it counter clockwise.
  2. Pull out retaining clip then remove the strut away from the connection point.

Place the cardboard template (D) into position.

  1. Install the cardboard template into position as illustrated.
  2. Secure the template with suitable tape to the inner part of the cardboard template above the perforated edge as illustrated.

CAUTION
  • Allow to dry for a minimum of 2 minutes before proceeding to the next step.

Using the supplied cleaner (B) clean the illustrated area.

CAUTION
  • Allow to dry for a minimum of 5 minutes before proceeding to next step.

Apply the supplied adhesion promoter (C) to the illustrated area.

CAUTION
  • Make sure the orientation of the rear scuff plate is lined up with the cardboard template (D).

Align the scuff plate (A) against the cardboard template. Push down on the rear scuff plate to make sure it is firmly on the bumper. Then secure with tape as illustrated.

NOTE
  • Firmly push the edges of the rear scuff plate along the removed adhesive strips to make sure there is good adhesion to the bumper.

While holding the scuff plate in position remove the side adhesive tab strips on the rear scuff plate (A).

NOTE
  • Firmly push the edges of the rear scuff plate along the removed adhesive strips to make sure there is good adhesion to the bumper.

While holding the scuff plate in position remove the top and bottom adhesive tab strips on the rear scuff plate (A). Remove any tape that is in the way of this procedure.

Remove all tape and cardboard template (D) and discard.

Check the rear scuff plate is installed correctly as illustrated. Then remove the rear scuff plate protective layer.

Connect door strut.

  1. Place the door strut back onto its connection point and insert the retaining clip into the strut as illustrated.
  2. Secure the strut by rotating the retaining clip clockwise to lock into position.
