FITTING INSTRUCTION

NOTE
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
Fitting Instruction
1

Disconnect the start up battery.

  • For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. 12V System Disconnect and Connect (414-00)

Remove the left side loadspace trim panel.

NOTE
  • Retain x2 fixing.

Remove x4 fixings and move aside the amplifier module bracket to gain access behind.

CAUTION
  • Make sure the startup battery is not connected before starting this step.

Remove the 12V socket 'brown' electrical connector.

  1. Using a suitable tool remove the small connector cover from the main connector.
  2. Using a suitable tool release the x2 electrical pins from the connector.

NOTE
  • The electrical connector (C2) will be used again in the next step.

Carefully release and retain the gray colored electrical connector (C2) from the electrical connector (C1).

CAUTION
  • Make sure the startup battery is not connected before starting this step.
  • Make sure the correct wire colours go in the correct connector pin. Color codes are shown on the x2 wires in the graphic.

Connect connector (C2) to the vehicle harness.

  1. Using a suitable tool move (Do Not Remove) the orange coloured clip out from the connector (C2).
  2. Install the x2 cables from step 4 into the new connector (C2). Make sure they are fully installed by checking none of the metal pins is still showing from the back of the connector.
  3. When the pins are correctly in position secure by pushing the orange coloured clip back into the connector.

Install harness (C).

  1. Connect connector (C2) back into (C1).
  2. Position harness (C) as illustrated and secure with x3 cable ties (N).

Move the amplifier module bracket back into position and tighten with the x2 fixings retained in step 3.

  • Torque: 10Nm

CAUTION
  • Install, but do not fully tighten the x2 nuts (H).

Install the bracket leg (B) to the integrated air compressor bracket (A) using x2 fixings (M) and small metal x2 washers (K).

NOTE
  • This step is 'ONLY' applicable to Defender 90 (some parts not shown for clarity).

Remove and retain fixing (S3).

NOTE
  • This step is 'ONLY' to Defender 90.
  • Make sure bracket is installed at 90 degrees and not twisted.

Using existing fixing (S3) attach bracket (F) where illustrated.

  • Torque: 10Nm

Install the integrated air compressor bracket (A).

  1. Attach large washer (J) to the x2 vehicle studs before installing the integrated air compressor bracket (A).
  2. Slide the integrated air compressor bracket (A) into place and secure with x2 small metal washers (K) and x2 fixings (M).
  3. Torque: 10Nm

Secure the bracket leg (M).

  1. Slide the bracket leg (B) that is part of the bracket (A) downward so the bracket leg locates onto the arrowed vehicle stud.
  2. Tighten x2 fixings.
  3. Torque: 10Nm

NOTE
  • This step is 'ONLY' applicable to Defender 110.

Install top right of bracket (A) to existing antenna bracket with fixing (H), small metal washer (J) and fixing (M).

  • Torque: 10Nm

NOTE
  • This step is 'ONLY' applicable to Defender 90.

Install top right of bracket (F) to already installed bracket (A) with x2 fixings (H) and x2 small metal washers (K).

  • Torque: 10Nm

Feed the connector (C4) through the bracket.

Connect link harness to air compressor cover to make sure the display works.

  1. Connect battery.
  2. Connect link harness connector(C4) to air compressor.
  3. Make sure the display works.
  4. Disconnect link harness connector (C4) from the air compressor.
  5. Disconnect battery.

NOTE
  • Both Defender 90 and 110 use the same measurements.

Use suitable tooling to measure and mark the x4 drilling locations.

WARNING
  • Make sure to wear suitable personal protective equipment.

Drill x4 holes at the marked locations.

  1. 35mm drill bit
  2. 22mm drill bit

NOTE
  • Remember to install connector (C3) to the power outlet when installing the side trim.

Install the left side loadspace trim panel and carefully feed the electrical connector (C4) through the hole.

Prepare the x3 vehicle studs.

  1. Install x3 spacers (I).
  2. Install x3 foam washers (L).

NOTE
  • Install, but do not fully tighten fixings.

Install the compressor assembly (E) onto the x3 studs.

  1. Feed the electrical link lead (C4) through the air compressor assembly.
  2. Install x3 foam washers (L).
  3. Install x3 large metal washers (J).
  4. Install but do not fully tighten the fixings (F).

Make sure the air compressor is correctly positioned against the loadspace left trim panel as illustrated. There should be an equal gap between all edges of the air compressor and the bezel of the loadspace left trim panel. Then tighten the x3 fixings (M) to secure the compressor assembly (E).

  • Torque: 10Nm

NOTE
  • Listen for 'click' when connectors attach.

Install the integrated air compressor cover (D).

  1. Connect the x3 electrical connectors.
  2. Inspect the connections are secure.
  3. Install the air compressor cover by engaging the x6 retaining clips.

Connect the start up battery.

With the engine running make sure that the integrated air compressor is operating correctly. Install the integrated air compressor air line (G) and follow commands below on operation. Remove the integrated air compressor air line (G) after use.

WARNING
  • The 12V socket 'MUST' not be used when using the air compressor.
NOTE
  • Make sure vehicle engine is running before operating the air compressor.

Operating commands.

  1. On Mode: 1x short press.
  2. Increase set pressure: Rotation clockwise.
  3. Decrease set pressure: Rotation counter-clockwise.
  4. Set value (stop flashing): 1x short press when pressure value is flashing.
  5. Automatic inflation/deflation mode (start): When the pressure value is set and the air hose is connected to the tire, the inflation/deflation automatically starts after 5 sec. This feature also starts the inflation/deflation automatically when the air hose is moved from one tire to another.
  6. Manual inflation/deflation mode (start/stop): 1x short press when pressure value is not flashing.
  7. Measure Mode 1x long press (3 sec).
  8. Change unit (Psi/Bar): 3x short press.
  9. Off mode:1x long press (5 sec). Unit will automatically switch off after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Air Compressor Software Update Procedure.

  1. Search for and download the following App “LR IAC Update”. Obtain from Google or Apple as appropriate.
  2. Contact your local Local Technical Support (LTS) for the log in details (email address and password) required to use the application.
  3. Open the Air Compressor App (LR IAC Update) and enter the log in details.
  4. Click ‘INSTRUCTION’ option to read the pre-setup information. Click ‘OK’ to return to the previous screen the screen. NOTE: Keep the engine running throughout the process.
  5. Turn ON the Air Compressor Controller unit
  6. Click on ‘LR Compressor-xxxx’ to select it and click ‘CONNECT’. NOTE: LR Compressor-xxxx will only appear in the list if the compressor system is powered and within Bluetooth® range. NOTE: If the Controller unit is not turned ON before setting up the connection, an error message will display. Turn ON the controller unit and click ‘OK’ on the Error screen and repeat step number 6.
  7. Current software version can be checked by selecting ‘SW VERSION’. Click ‘OK’ to return to the previous screen.
  8. Click ‘UPDATE’ option to update the software.
  9. Take note of the warnings and click ‘OK’ to start the software update process. NOTE: The App will cycle through: - Updating; Reconnecting; Updating Controller.
  10. When the Success message is displayed, the software has been updated to the latest level.
