FITTING INSTRUCTION

WARNING
  • Accessories which are not properly fitted can be dangerous. Read the instructions carefully prior to fitting. When fitting, comply with instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.
NOTE
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure requires Deployable Side Step Wiring Harness kit (VPLRV0130 / VPLRP0486 / VPLRV0131) to be installed for operation.
  • Not all the fixings (C) will be used in the kits (VPLRP0348 / VPLRP0349), x2 in each kit will be spare.
  • Unless otherwise stated the vehicle left side is shown, right side is similar.
REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Raise vehicle on a 4 post ramp.

NOTE
  • Remove front mudflaps if fitted, before removing part (X).
  • Take note of part (X), as this part will be referenced later in the instructions.

Remove the rear rocker panel moulding on both sides of vehicle. For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Rear Rocker Panel Moulding (501-08)

NOTE
  • Remove the x4 rear fixings on the engine undertray (yellow) to aid removal.

Remove x12 fixings to remove the transmission undersheild.

NOTE
  • Number of fixings may vary depending on specification.

Remove the underbody shields on both sides of vehicle.

Remove x3 fixings to remove rear brace bracket on both sides of vehicle.

Fitting Instruction
NOTE
  • Unless otherwise stated the vehicle left side is shown. Same procedures must be completed on right side to.

Drill the removed underbody shield as illustrated using an 8mm drill bit.

  • Front end drill where it says 'L462'.

Using a suitable tool cut the front end of the underbody shield as illustrated along the inside cut lines. Discard the highlighted centre section.

Using a suitable tool cut the rear of the underbody shield as illustrated along the inside cut lines. Discard the highlighted centre section.

Cutting foam pad (F).

  1. Cut and discard the highlighted section as illustrated.
  2. Remove and discard the adhesive backing from the foam pad.

Install the foam pad (J) to the rear right mounting bracket (B2) only. This is not required on left side (A2).

NOTE
  • Note orientation of spacers.

Install the two spacer blocks (M) on the outboard front bracket fixings to the sill.

CAUTION
  • Bracket should be able to move if force is applied to it by hand. This is necessary for an accurate bracket to body alignment process.
NOTE
  • Hand tight only at this stage.

Install front side step mounting bracket (A1) with x2 fixings (C) and x2 fixings (M1 and M2).

NOTE
  • Hand tight only at this stage.

Install fixings (D) and (E) into the front subframe channel and insert up to x12 spacers (F) between the subframe and mounting bracket. Then secure all with fixing (C).

CAUTION
  • Bracket should be able to move if force is applied to it by hand. This is necessary for an accurate bracket to body alignment process.
NOTE
  • Hand tight only at this stage.

Install rear side step mounting bracket (A2) with x3 fixings (C). Then you can connect the pre-installed 'Deployable Side Step Wiring Harness kit' (VPLRV0130 / VPLRP0486 / VPLRV0131) to the side step bracket as arrowed.

NOTE
  • Hand tight only at this stage.
  • Requires the aid of another person.
  • If required adjust the side step position with the side step fixings to achieve a 10mm gap as shown.

Install side step to brackets using x4 fixings (N1) checking the gap between front bracket and side step as shown.

Tighten x4 side step fixings (N1).

  • Torque 9 Nm.

NOTE
  • Retract the side step into the stowed position before final tightening of fixings.

Tighten x3 fixings (C) on the front bracket.

  • Torque: 48 Nm

Tighten x1 fixing (C) on the rear bracket.

  • Torque: 48 Nm

NOTE
  • Deploy the side step before final tightening of remaining fixings.

Tighten x2 fixings (M1) on the front bracket.

  • Torque: 48 Nm

Tighten x2 fixings (C) on the rear bracket.

  • Torque: 48 Nm

Remove the side step for rocker panel access.

NOTE
  • Number of fixings may vary depending on specification.

Install the modified underbody shields.

  • Torque 10 Nm.

NOTE
  • Lower the rear of the engine undertray to aid access.

Install the transmission undersheild.

  • M10: Torque 60 Nm.
  • M6: Torque 10 Nm.

NOTE
  • Do not complete this step if the front mudflaps are also being installed. The front mudflaps cannot be installed if part (G) is attached to part (X).

Install part (G) to the front fender moulding (X) using the fixings provided.

NOTE
  • Refer to step 23 when installing part (X).

Install the rocker panel moulding on both sides of vehicle. For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Rear Rocker Panel Moulding (501-08)

Install side step to brackets using (x4) fixings (N1).

  • Torque 9 Nm.

NOTE
  • If part (G) was not installed in step 19 because of front mudflaps. Please install the front mudflaps after installing part (X).

Install the front fender moulding (X). For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Front Fender Moulding (501-08)
