FITTING INSTRUCTION

  • Accessories which are not properly installed can be dangerous. Read the instructions carefully prior to fitting. When fitting, comply with instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.

  • For 5 seat vehicles only see steps 1 to 6.

Remove the loadspace floor panel.

Remove the loadspace stowage former.

Remove the loadspace floor beam.

Remove the fixed D-loop anchor points.

Remove the loadspace infil trims.

Remove the loadspace underfloor trim.

Remove the loadspace floor panel.

Remove the loadspace infil rail carriers.

  • Complete this step if you have deployable loadspace floor installed.

Aside the deployable loadspace floor strut for access.

Disconnect the vehicle startup battery. For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Specifications (414-00 Battery and Charging System - General Information)

Remove the cupholder trim.

Remove the third row seat trim.

Remove the lower C-pillar trim. For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. C-Pillar Lower Trim Panel - [+] Vehicles with 2nd / 3rd Row Seats (501-05)

Lift up the rear of the main floor trim.

NOTE
  • Complete this step for vehicles with towbar module installed.
  • Towbar control modules may differ visually to the illustration depending on level of towing installed.

Remove the towing module and bracket.

NOTE
  • Complete this step for vehicles with towing module installed.

Remove the two nuts securing the towing module to the bracket and install the Running Board Control Module (RBM) part (A) to the towing module bracket using nuts (B1).

  • Torque: 5 Nm.

  • Complete this step for vehicles with towbar module installed.

Install the RBM and towing module.

  • Torque: 5 Nm.

  • Complete this step for vehicles without a towbar module installed.

Attach the RBM module (A) to bracket (B) using fixings (B1) and (B2).

  • Torque: 5 Nm.

Attach the RBM module (A) and bracket (B) using fixings (B1).

  • Torque: 5 Nm.

Connect the deployable side step harness (C) to the RBM module (A) and clip to the side of module as shown.

CAUTION
  • The link harness (D) should always be installed to vehicles regardless if towing is or is not installed to the vehicle. The Link harness is not available separately.

Install the link lead wiring harness (D) from the RBM module to the body harness receptacle as illustrated.

  • Complete this step for vehicles with a towbar module installed.
  • Towbar control modules may differ visually to the illustration depending on level of towing installed.

Connect the link lead (D) to the towbar wiring harness.

CAUTION
  • Do not fully tighten cable ties.

Route and attach the wiring harness (C) from the RBM module as illustrated.

  • Do not fully tighten cable ties.
NOTE
  • Part (C2) refers to the section of harness (C) which splits out and runs across the vehicle.
  • Secure any excess of harness (C2) with cable ties where arrowed.

Route and attach the wiring harness (C) as illustrated.

  • 7 seat variant shown.
  • Left side shown, right side similar.
  • If applicable clip the wiring harness to the third row seat bracket.

For 7 seat variants secure the wiring harness to the bracket in the clip position illustrated.

  • Remove blanking grommets, feed the harness through the hole and securely install the new grommet.

Place the harness (C2) across the vehicle floor and securely tape the wiring harness on the body and air ducting as shown.

CAUTION
  • Do not fully tighten cable ties.
NOTE
  • Right side shown.
  • Tape the harness on the air ducting as shown.
  • For 7 seat variants secure the wiring harness to the seat bracket.
  • Remove blanking grommets, feed the harness through the hole and securely install the new grommet.

Secure and tape the harness section (C2) to the body as shown.

When a satisfactory position for the wiring harness is achieved fully tighten all cable ties.

Release the front of the rear wheel arch liner for access. For more information refer to Deployable side steps installation instructions.

  • Right side shown. Left side similar.
  • Secure the grommets.
  • Plug the wiring harness into the rear side step brackets.

Feed the wiring harness (C) through the rear wheel arch area and secure as illustrated.

Replace fuse in location 39 in the rear junction box with 30A fuse supplied (E).

  • Complete this step if you have deployable loadspace floor installed.

Install the deployable loadspace floor strut back into position.

Install the loadspace floor trim.

NOTE
  • Make sure step 1 is successfully completed before proceeding to step 2.

Use the JLR approved diagnostic equipment to navigate to 'Diagnostics' section and follow the steps below.

  1. Within Vehicle Applications – Click ‘RUN’ for ‘Add/Remove Deployable Side Steps’, then choose ADD.
  2. Within Module Programing – Click ‘RUN’ for ‘RBM - Software - Replace Module’.
  3. To enable the changes on the vehicle
    Ignition off
    Close all doors
    Lock the vehicle
    Wait 5 minutes
    To confirm changes
    Unlock the vehicle
    Reset Infotainment Screen (Refer to 'Touchscreen' settings in Owners handbook for detailed procedure.)
    Confirm 'Side - Step' tile is present on the Touchscreen
