FITTING INSTRUCTION

WARNING
  • Accessories which are not correctly installed can be dangerous. Please read the instructions carefully prior to installation. Comply with the instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.

Warnings / Cautions / Notes

CAUTION
  • If protective wax has been applied to the vehicle it must be thoroughly removed before starting this procedure.
  • It is important to prepare a clean surface for step 13 in these instructions of promoting. The adhesion process with 1 sachet must be followed.
  • Wearing of gloves is mandatory at all times when handling of the mud flaps to protect the high gloss surface.
  • The vehicle must be clean, dry and at workshop temperature. Vehicles moved into the workshop from cold or wet conditions should be dried and left to stand for a minimum of 2 hours.
  • Make sure the vehicle and parts being installed are at the correct temperature. In hot climate countries the panel temperatures could be greater than 40 deg C if the vehicle is left in the sun. Move the vehicle into the workshop and allow 2 hours to reach workshop temperatures before installing the accessories. Use infa-red thermometer JLR-60051001 to check the vehicle panel temperature is in the correct range before installing the accessory.

REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

Raise and support vehicle on a 2 post ramp.

CAUTION
  • The wheel and tire assembly will be heavy.
  • The locking wheel nuts can only be removed and installed by using the special adapter provided in the vehicle tool kit, located under the loadspace in the rear of the vehicle.
  • Using power tools may result in the damage to the wheel nuts. Make sure the wheel nuts are removed and installed using hand tools only.

Remove both rear wheels. For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Wheel and Tire (204-04)

Remove centre fixing from rear wheel arch liner / rear bumper.

Fitting Instruction
CAUTION
  • This procedure contains illustrations for the left side components, right side is similar. The steps 1 to 11 to be performed on both sides for each step of the installation. The promoter adhesion steps 12 to 13 to be performed on both sides using the 1 sachet provided.

Cover surface with masking tape.

Position rear mudflap into place using fixing removed previously. Make sure the top edge is correctly in position to the lower bumper trim. Then mark fixing hole and remove mudflap. Then remove rear mudflap.

Remove x3 fixings.

Using a trim tool remove x2 retaining clips and x1 trim clip from the rear wheel arch liner. Then pull wheel arch liner away slightly for access behind rear bumper.

CAUTION
  • Be aware of components behind the bumper cover when drilling. Make sure to use a 15mm drill stop.

Using a 10mm drill, drill a hole in the bumper cover in the location illustrated.

Remove masking tape.

Pull lower bumper trim back slightly for access.

Replace existing U-nut with plastic U-nut (B2).

Insert fixing (D) and washer (D1) into top fixing hole.

Offer up both rear mudflap by locating the upper fixing (D) through the pre drilled hole and inspect the position on how the mudflap sits on the rear bumper. When happy that everything is in alignment, remove the mudflaps.

CAUTION
  • Do not proceed to next step until time given is observed.
NOTE
  • Complete this step on both sides of the vehicle before proceeding to next step.

Wipe lower bumper on each side of the vehicle with solvent wipe (E). Then allow 2 minutes to dry before proceeding to next step.

The following step requires the need to wait 3 minutes for promoter adhesion process cure time. After cure time (3 minutes) you have 10 minutes to install both mudflaps on the vehicle.

CAUTION
  • It is important to prepare a clean surface for the promoting. The adhesion process with 1 sachet must be followed.
  • Do not proceed to next step until time given is observed.
NOTE
  • Complete this step on both sides of the vehicle before proceeding to next step.

Use the 1 sachet (F) of promoter pouch provided for both sides of the vehicle immediately when opened to the area illustrated. Adhesion process cure time is between 3 to 10 minutes. Installation of the mudflaps to the vehicle must not be before or over this cure time.

Insert fixing (D) and washer (D1) into top fixing hole and peel backing tape from adhesive strips.

NOTE
  • Complete this step on both sides of the vehicle before proceeding to next step.

Position rear mudflap by locating the upper fixing (D) through the pre drilled hole and push the rear mudflap against lower bumper to allow the adhesive strips to bond. Secure with nut (D2) and washer (D1). Look at step 10 to see how the mudflap should sit on the rear bumper.

Move wheel arch liner and bumper back in place and install fixing that was removed in step 3.

  • Torque 6Nm

Install x2 retaining clips and x1 trim clip to the rear wheel arch liner.

Install fixing (B) and washer (B1) through mudflap and lower bumper into U-Nut (B2).

  • Torque 6Nm

Install fixing (C) through mudflap and wheel arch liner into lower bumper. And then install the originally fixing removed in step 3.

  • Torque 6Nm
