FITTING INSTRUCTION

WARNING
  • Accessories which are not properly fitted can be dangerous. Read the instructions carefully prior to fitting. Comply with instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.
NOTE
  • Link lead (R) may be secured to wiring harness (M).
Fitting Instruction

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 4 post lift.For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Lifting (100-02)

Open the tailgate.

Remove the loadspace floor trim.

  • This step only applies to vehicles not equipped with a spare wheel.

Remove the spare wheel.

Remove the loadspace trim.

Remove the left side loadspace trim panel. For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Loadspace Trim Panel LH/RH (501-05)

Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01)

Release the Battery Junction Box (BJB).

Raise the vehicle.

Remove and discard the air deflector.

Remove the engine undershield.

Remove the centre undershield.

Remove the side undershields.

Following the template markings, cut the side undershield.

CAUTION
  • Make sure that the cover is evenly aligned against the undershield.

Install cover (G) on to the undershield.

Using a 6 mm drill, drill a total of 3 holes into the undershield as illustrated.

Using rivets (J) and washers (K), secure the cover.

Remove the screw.

CAUTION
  • Before installing the deployable side step brackets make sure the front battery cable clips are pushed up as far as possible on the location studs.

  • Repeat this step for the right side using bolts (B) and bracket (E).
  • Do not torque the bolts at this step.

  1. Install bolts (B) to front bracket (C) to aid installation.
  2. Remove bolts (B).

  • Do not torque the bolts at this step.

  1. Install bolts (B) to front bracket (D) to aid installation.
  2. Remove bolts (B).

  2. Remove the bolts.

Secure bracket (C) using bolts (B) and the reinforcing plate (W).

  1. Install the bracket (C) to the vehicle using the reinforcing plate (W) and bolts (B).
  2. Tighten the bolts (B) hand tight.

  • Only tighten the bolts hand tight at this stage.

Secure bracket (C) using bolts (B).

  • Torque: 30 Nm

Repeat steps 26 to 29 for the right side of the vehicle.

Secure bracket (D) using bolts (B) and the reinforcing plate (W).

  1. Install the bracket (D) to the vehicle using the reinforcing plate (W) and bolts (B).
  2. Tighten the bolts (B) hand tight.

Secure the bracket (D) using bolts (B) as illustrated.

  • Torque: 30 Nm

Secure the bracket (D) using bolts (B).

Repeat steps 31 to 33 for the right side of the vehicle.

  • The illustrated wiring harness routing is to aid installation.

Make sure the longer section of the wiring harness (M) is installed on the right side of the vehicle as illustrated.

CAUTION
  • Retain the link lead.

Remove link lead (R) from wiring harness (M).

Remove and discard the grommet from the underside of the startup battery compartment.

Feed the wiring harness through to the startup battery compartment.

NOTE
  • This step only applies to vehicles equipped with air suspension.

  1. Route the wiring harness as illustrated.
  2. Lower the air suspension pipe retaining clip from the vehicle body.
  3. Secure the wiring harness against the vehicle body.
  4. Secure the suspension air pipe and retaining clip to the previous location as illustrated.
  5. Secure the supplied clip (S) to the air suspension pipe.
  6. Secure the wiring harness as illustrated.

Secure the wiring harness.

  2. Secure the wiring harness.

Install supplied cover (Q) to the fuel pipe in the illustrated position.

Secure the wiring harness.

Lower the vehicle.

Remove and discard the towbar control module.

Install module (N).

  1. Secure using retaining nuts (T).
  2. Torque: 10 Nm

Route and secure the wiring harness (M).

  1. Release the main wiring harness.
  2. Secure the deployable side step wiring harness.
  3. Secure the main wiring harness.

  1. Route the previously removed wiring harness link lead (R) as illustrated.
  2. Secure the wiring harness (M) to vehicle body.
  3. Using suitable tape, secure clip (U).
  4. Secure and connect the electrical connectors.
  5. Secure the link lead (R) using retaining clip (V).

  • This step only applies to vehicles not equipped with a towbar.

Install the link lead (O) as illustrated.

Secure the BJB.

  • Torque: 25 Nm

Install the loadspace trim.

Install the loadspace floor trim in the illustrated sequence.

Raise the vehicle.

Secure the wiring harness retaining clip.

Install the side undershields.

Install the centre undershield.

Install the engine undershield.

  • Torque: 7 Nm

Identify the location of the fixing hole for the deployable side step motor cover in the front wheel arch liner. Drill one hole using a 5 mm drill.

Secure the deployable side step motor cover to the wheel arch liner.

  • Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.
NOTE

Secure the deployable side step (A) to the mounting brackets using bolts (P).

Make sure the deployable side step is correctly positioned in relation to the front bracket as illustrated.

Torque the 4 fixing bolts as illustrated.

  • Torque: 12 Nm.

Using Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, configure the deployable side step electrics.
