FITTING INSTRUCTION

WARNING
  • Accessories which are not properly fitted can be dangerous. Read the instructions carefully prior to fitting. When fitting, comply with instructions at all times. If in doubt, contact your nearest approved retailer.
NOTE
  • Parts (H), (J) and (K) do not need to be ordered if you already have 'deployable side steps' fitted.

Detachable Towbar

South Africa market only (VPLVT0064).

NOTE
  • (VPLVT0064) is a 13 Pin to 12N electric socket adapter for the towing electrical socket for South Africa market only. It is connected to the electrical socket on the towbar armature (VPLRT0305).

REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

If your vehicle comes with a deployable loadfloor. Please make sure it is deployed before proceeding.

NOTE
  • 5 seat shown. 7 seat similar.

Remove the loadspace floor panel.

NOTE
  • 5 seat shown. 7 seat similar.

Remove (x7) fixings and remove loadspace stowage tray.

Remove (x2) D-loops.

Remove (x2) fixings and remove the loadspace trim.

Remove the loadspace trim.

Remove seatbelt bezel.

  • Vehicles without deployable loadspace floor.

Remove (x4) fixings and pull away from hidden clips to remove the loadspace scuff plate.

Remove (x1) fixing and remove rail carrier.

Remove the left loadspace trim panel.

  • For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Left Loadspace Trim Panel (501-05)

NOTE
  • Complete this if you have deployable loadfloor installed to vehicle.

Remove the deployable loadfloor strut for access to area under this part.

Remove the rear bumper.

  • For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Rear Bumper (501-19)

Remove and discard the rear armature.

  • For additional information, please refer to the official Workshop Manual. Rear Armature (501-19)
Fitting Instruction
1

With the aid of another person, install the towbar (A).

NOTE
  • Hand tight only at this stage.

Install (x8) fixings (D) to towbar.

NOTE
  • Repeat this step for the other side.

Install (x2) fixings (D).

  1. Torque: 100 Nm
  2. Angle tighten: 120 Degrees.

NOTE
  • Repeat this step for the other side.

Install (x4) fixings (F).

  1. Torque: 100 Nm
  2. Angle tighten: 240 Degrees.

Torque (x8) fixings (D).

  1. Torque: 100 Nm
  2. Angle tighten: 120 Degrees.

NOTE
  • If your vehicle already comes with 'deployable side steps' installed. Please refer from step 7 to 13 only. Then continue to step 17.
  • If your vehicle does not come with 'deployable side steps'. Please refer from step 14 to 16 only.

Steps to follow.

Disconnect Running Board Control Module (RBM) . Location of this area is in the left side loadspace.

  1. Disconnect cable (X) from RBM.
  2. Disconnect cable (Y) from RBM.

Remove (x2) fixings and remove RBM with bracket.

Remove fixings that hold the RBM to bracket.

Install the Trailer Module (TRM) (B) to underside of bracket and secure with the same fixings removed in previous step.

  • Torque: 5 Nm

Install (x2) fixings removed in step 8 to install module bracket to vehicle.

  • Torque: 5 Nm

Connect TRM.

  1. Clip harness (C) to module bracket where arrowed. And connect (x2) connectors to the TRM.

Connect RBM.

  1. Reconnect cable (X) back to the RBM and harness (C).
  2. Reconnect cable (Y) back to the RBM.

Install the TRM (B) to underside of bracket (H) with (x2) fixings (J) and (K).

  • Torque: 5 Nm

Install the bracket (H) to vehicle using (x2) fixings (K).

  • Torque: 5 Nm

Connect TRM.

  1. Clip harness (C) to module bracket where arrowed. And connect (x2) connectors to the TRM and remaining connector to the body harness.

Fit towbar harness and grommet to body.

Connect towbar harness to connector.

Install the exhaust heat shields, exhaust and rear bumper support bracket.

NOTE
  • This step is required for Detachable towbar VPLRT0305 only.

Using a suitable tool, cut the rear bumper as illustrated.

Install the rear bumper.

Install the Tow Eye Cover (L) and the recovery panel (E).

NOTE
  • Complete this if you have deployable loadfloor installed to vehicle.

Install the deployable loadfloor strut back into position.

Refit all trims (reversal of removal steps 10 to 1).

Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, configure the towbar electrics.

NOTE
  • The following steps refer to the detachable towbar VPLRT0305 only.
  • Refer to the owners handbook for more information.

Install the towball stowage tray (N).

Remove the towbar receiver cap 'M' and store in the stowage tray (N).

Before the towball (G) is to be used remove the cap and store in the stowage tray (L) as shown.

CAUTION
  • Do not use the towball assembly with the cap fitted.
NOTE
  • Please refer to the vehicle owners handbook for detachable towball installation and removal instructions.

Insert the towball (G) into the towbar receiver unit.

Replace the cap after removing the towball.

When not in use store the towball assembly and keys in the stowage tray.

Replace the towbar receiver cap (M) when the towball is not in use.
